Supported Living Overview and FAQ
Living Ambitions provides supported living services, by which we help individuals to live in their own homes by providing staff to support them to live independently. We also have strong links with local housing providers and can help people find accommodation if they don’t have any.

Support can be for just a few hours a week, but normally staff are there all the time. People who use Living Ambitions supported living services are encouraged to lead in all aspects of their support planning including recruiting their staff team and deciding what outcomes they wish for their lives.
Services are designed and planned by the individuals and in partnership with parents, family members, carers, service commissioners and health professionals to ensure the following outcomes.
• Quality of Life, exercising choice & control
• Making a positive contribution
• Personal Dignity and respect
• Freedom from discrimination and harassment
• Improved health and emotional well being
• Leadership and management

FAQ
-
Can People choose their own staff?
Yes, Living Ambitions will help people choose, they will still be employed by us but together we will ensure people have the staff with skills to meet their needs.
-
Will People be able to choose their activities?
We ensure the policy that‘ Nothing happens about you, without you’. We will help people to involve everyone who is important to their plan.
-
What if individuals can’t read, write, speak or hear very well?
One of the first things we do is work with people to develop a ‘Communication Passport’. This booklet lets everyone know how to tell people things with signs, symbols or pictures if required.
-
Can friends come around?
As people will be living in their own homes/accommodation, they can have whoever they like. However, if people are sharing a house/accommodation with other people, then it is important that they respect their needs as well.
-
Who pays for supported living service?
This depends on where people live, but normally a local authority will pay. Part of the cost may also be paid for from an individual’s I.L.F allowance and /or contribution from their D.L.A. This all helps to make up their Individual Budget. Some local authorities may pay for all supported living services.
-
Are there things we don’t help with?
Living Ambitions staff help people to live independently, supporting with the jobs and activities that help to do this. They also help individuals to learn, grow and develop as people. We treat each individual according to their needs so discussion and planning are vital.
